CDP-2A is Philips TDA1541A w/a Sony Transport. CDC-4A is Phillips TDA1541A-S1 w/a Pioneer transport. OMS-7 is 2x Philips TDA1540 w/a NEC Transport. And the OMS-7 II is 2x PCM54HP-K w/a Sony transport.
And the TDA1541 equipped players are arguably some of the best sounding CDP's out there...
The TDA1540 was the first DAC chip from Philips, the TDA1541 was the improved version of that chip. So it stands to reason the TDA1541 sounds slightly better than the TDA1540,though some may still debate that deal. I say that as many feel that the TDA1540 is a very "musical" sounding DAC. But the same is said for the TDA1541 DACs as well, both are very analog sounding and highly sought after by those "in the know".
Also, note that the TDA1541A-S1 is the upgraded TDA1541A chip.
The Burr Brown PCM54HP-K is one of their older DACs from that era,and while they're an OK DAC,understand they're nothing exceptional. Certainly not in the relm of their PCM63/PCM64 equipped breathren.
And like I said here before, the Sony trasnports are known to have laser P/U issues with those eventually failing and finding replacement lasers being a hit -or- miss proposition.
So keep that ^^^^ in mind for sure.

Nakamichi CDPlayer1 Nakamichi CD Player 1 Possibly Rarest Nak CD Player Overview-forgot to mention in video but have seen 0 CD player 1 on market (ebay) in last 5 years as of 9/21/15(unless I just missed it). There's plenty of cd/cassette player 1 which is totally different unit. Please note: when comparing to MB1 I'm referring to the early MB1 not the later produced MB1s which is lower end in comparison. MB1s was about $1000 less in price, used lower grade DACS, had no discrete output & used a cheaper made transport which was more prone to failure.

Wow I didn't think I'd see this deck on here!...I own one which i bought back in 1992 which was about $1,100 retail I think...beautiful player with amazing sound however, unfortunately, the tray started jamming and I sometimes wouldn't be able to get the CD out...so I replaced it with a newer CD player yet I miss having this Nak in my system...any ideas who can repair this sort of problem?

How misleading. We sold a ton of these units and they are not rare at all. In addition, the cd magazine that stored the CD’s would jam frequently and even damaged the transport in some cases. They were as common as other Denon and Yamaha CD players that were sold in their heyday in the early to mid-90’s. Stop trying to rewrite history and glorify something that you stumbled across.

One store selling a lot doesn't mean a lot sold all together. Its by far the least frequent one to show up on Ebay-or the used market in general. I stand by my video. Just look up completed Ebay listings and you will see none that were even listed Many of these units did have disc tray problems. I will agree with you on that. Now the CD/cassette player 1 did sell a lot of units . Many people confuse the 2.

Nakamichi DVD-15 DESCRIPTION
Nakamichi invented it...Nakamichi perfected it...and now it is available to videophiles in the Nakamichi DVD-15 DVD Changer. What is it? Why, the world-renowned MusicBank disc-stocking mechanism! MusicBank stores and plays five DVDs or CDs in whatever order you wish. It occupies less space than a carousel changer, is more convenient and precise than a magazine changer and faster acting than either. Nothing touches the playing surface of the disc so MusicBank is safe and reliable. Operation is intuitive; discs are loaded into the stocking mechanism through a simple slot. MusicBank then stores the discs on an internal elevator so they're available for quick automated loading into the player.
The DVD-15 uses a selectable-wavelength twin-focus laser head that can read just about any optical disc on the market - CD-R included! Of course, the DVD-15 also handles commercial CDs, video CDs, and single-and double-layer DVDs.

STRENGTH: High resolution picture quality. Loads cd's or dvd's fast. Smooth changer operation. Built well and solid. Not a bunch of stupid bells and whistles, just the important stuff.
WEAKNESS: Many receivers' universal remotes won't control this unit. Movies sometimes pause briefly in the middle, layer change? The neighbors.
So far so good. I have had the DVD-15 for about 7 months now. This is my first DVD player, and I like it a lot. I have owned Nakamichi cassette decks in the past, and have loved Nakamichi ever since. The build quality of this machine is of true Nakamichi fashion. This unit has it's own Dolby Digital decoder, so if you have a cheaper receiver with 6 channel input, you could use the higher quality decoder of this unit. Has optical out, coaxial out, component video out, and s-video out. I hear this machine's retail price is $1200.00, but you can get it cheaper online. Here's some info on my setup: my receiver is a Denon AVR-1802, Cerwin Vega 15" main drivers, DCM front and down firing twin 12" sub's, DCM center, and Infinity surrounds. Sound and picture quality are awesome, sounds like a big theater. I don't think you could go wrong with this unit, you can trust Nakamichi's reputation. It's even made in Japan, too.

OVERALL RATING 5 ★★★★★ ★★★★★ VALUE RATING 5 ★★★★★ ★★★★★ [Sep 10, 2002] Xetronic AudioPhile
STRENGTH: Sound and Audio are on the top of the charts, both are diffinately up to the audiophile standard.
WEAKNESS: Just a little hot on top, not too bad.
I purchased this DVD at an excellent price from a dealer selling goods on ebay. I must say that it performs wonderfully. The Picture quality is excellent, and the 5.1 decoding for the audio is definately up to par. The "MusicBank" system is also a very big plus, and not to mention the disc changing speeds and spin up times. Best loading time versus any multidisc storing DVD player I've encountered or tested. It does however run a little hot on top, but it isnt like a grill or anything, about the same as other players. All in all you will still get your moneys worth paying retail for it. I've seen prices around $800 on the net and I would diffinately recommend getting this DVD Player.
